What these books are

Nobody is the bad guy

Mitzy is small and she gets things wrong. She does not want to share her new markers. She is frightened of the dark. She shouts at her little brother on a day when nothing has gone right.

In these books that is allowed. A grown-up sits down on the floor next to her, says that the feeling is a normal one, and that she does not have to fix it this minute. Mitzy works it out herself, in her own time, and nobody stands over her explaining the lesson.

They are quiet books. They are meant to be read at bedtime by someone who is also tired.

Seventy books, one at a time

The series is written. Mitzy loses a toy, waits her turn, meets a new neighbour, goes to the doctor, has a day when every single thing goes wrong. Her town fills up with a hedgehog, a fox, an owl who teaches school and a librarian who happens to be a wolf.

One book is in print so far. The rest are on their way, and they are being made carefully rather than quickly.

Aaron Field

Lives in Indiana with his wife Sarah and their five children, who are the reason these books exist. He has written stories since he was young. When Mitzy and Mika get something wrong, it is usually because somebody in his house got it wrong first.

Rebekah Brenneman

Drew and painted the pictures for this book. She has loved to draw and paint since she was young, and has always liked painting with children and encouraging them the way people encouraged her.
